If you have become a COVID-19 couch potato, a little adventure in DC may do you (and dad) some good. Take the entire family on a Father's Day cruise along the Potomac aboard the American Spirit schooner. Passengers on this 65-foot sailboat are in good hands with a U.S. Coast Guard-certified captain.
- Register on the DC Sail website. Select "add guest" to pay for others in your party.
- Cost: $30 per person. 100% refund for boat cancellation due to severe weather.
- What to bring: Pack your own "floating picnic." Purchase goodies at the nearby Safeway or choose from one of the Wharf's many eateries. Beer and wine permitted.
- Length of cruise: A three-hour cruise round-trip to Alexandria and back.
- Getting to the Wharf: Metro is recommended. Closest Metro is Southwest/Waterfront Metro (green line). From there, walk two blocks to the Wharf or save your feet and catch a taxi, Lyft or Uber. See the map for directions.
