A Gambrills environmental expo will bring together 16 or more different faith-based and nonprofit environmental organizations.

This first Eco Fair is being organized by the Hyo Jeong International Foundation for the Unity of the Sciences (HJIFUS) in partnership with the Mid-Atlantic Community Church (MACC) Garden Ministry. 

The Fair will offer an opportunity for the participating organizations to meet one another, learn about each other’s environmental efforts, and provide local Marylanders (and others) with valuable information that they can put into practice in their neighborhoods.

“This event will be a great step towards raising the public’s consciousness of loving nature, healing the Earth, and expanding activities to develop a more loving and caring relationship for our natural environment,” said Gregg Jones, head of the Eco Fair 2023 organizing committee.

The Fair begins at 10:30 a.m. At noon, all participants will migrate to the church, have refreshments, and listen to the speakers from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. After the talks, all will be welcome to walk the MACC Garden before the program closes at 2:00 p.m.

The event includes two short speeches (about 5 minutes each), by individuals who will highlight the main work of their organizations. Also featured will be a 15-minute keynote speech on the topic, “What Is Our Role in Addressing Environmental Challenges?” by Dr. Sun Jin Moon, a longtime environmental activist. Dr. Moon, executive director of HJIFUS, is founder of the Giving for Good program that advocates for the recycling and reuse of clothing, the manufacture of which requires the environmentally destructive use of immense amounts of freshwater.
