WHO: Psi Epsilon Omega Chapter (PEO) of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated®

WHAT: “Civics 101” a free course to help community residents learn the basics of the democratic process and provide opportunities to get engaged.

WHY: In preparation for the 2024 General Election, PEO is partnering with Northview Elementary School to offer a FREE Civics 101 course for residents. Participants will learn the fundamentals of the election process and voter registration. There will also be refreshments, games, and fun.

“Far too often, individuals wait to engage in the political process until it is time to elect the president of the United States,” said Benita A. Swindell, PEO President. “In reality, many of the elections that most directly impact our communities occur at the state and local levels. We are offering this free course to residents to increase knowledge and awareness of how to engage in the political process at all levels of government. This is how we as a community create the society we want to see.”
