A social justice symposium highlighting equity issues in athletics will be held in memory of Bowie State University student 1st Lt. Richard Collins III. Collins was murdered by a University of Maryland student connected to a racist Facebook group, according to media reports.

The symposium is hosted by the Bowie State and University of Maryland Social Justice Alliance. Panelists include former collegiate and professional athletes including:

• Former NBA player and social justice advocate Etan Thomas
• WNBA star Marissa Coleman
• Sports journalist and Washington Post commentator Kevin Blackistone
• Professional volleyball standout Rainelle Jones
• Former Bowie State track athlete Zion Tayler
