Bowie, MD – March 19, 2025 – A local resident from Bowie, Maryland, is set to make a significant impact on women’s healthcare in Mombasa, Kenya, with the launch of a free women’s clinic in April 2025. This initiative aims to provide essential medical services, maternal care, and health education to underserved women in the region.
Driven by a passion for global health equity, Ebony “Freedom” Kirkland, a public-school teacher, is spearheading the effort to ensure women in Mombasa have access to critical healthcare services regardless of financial status. The clinic will focus on maternal health, preventive care, wellness screenings, and reproductive health education.
“This clinic is more than just a medical facility—it’s a place of hope, healing, and empowerment,” said Freedom “Many women in Mombasa struggle to access quality healthcare, and our goal is to change that by providing free, compassionate care that meets their needs.”
The is a local and global community effort of partnerships with local healthcare professionals, volunteers, religious organizations, and donors who share a commitment to advancing women’s health. The clinic’s launch aligns with global efforts to improve maternal and reproductive healthcare in underserved communities. “More mothers and children will live through preventative care.”
To support the clinic’s establishment, Freedom is organizing fundraising efforts and seeking donations of medical supplies and financial contributions. Those interested in contributing to this life-changing initiative can visit https://donate.stripe.com/fZefZf3Tl5kj97qbIJ
