Lewis Black Supports Maryland Community Theatre
Playwright Surprises Cast & Crew of 'One Slight Hitch' at Bowie Playhouse with Visit

Bowie, MD: Celebrated comedian and entertainer Lewis Black surprised the cast and crew of Bowie Community Theatre's One Slight Hitch by making an appearance at the Bowie Playhouse on Sunday, July 10th, to see the production's opening weekend matinee performance of his play.

Playwright Black, attending with two friends, told the production team this was his first time seeing a community theater production of One Slight Hitch, and was quick to say he enjoyed the energy the actors brought to his work. He could be seen after the performance meeting with the cast, taking photos with fans and autographing playbills.

Longtime Lewis Black fan and Bowie Community Theatre board member Ilene Chalmers was ushering the matinee performance with her husband David, both of whom were beside themselves meeting Black, whom they have seen perform standup many times.

"It was amazing meeting him and spending time chatting with him," Chalmers beamed. "He was a lovely person and I will remember this day, always!"

Bowie Community Theatre's production of One Slight Hitch, directed by Jennifer L. Franklin, runs Fridays and weekends through July 31st at the Bowie Playhouse. Tickets are available at www.bctheatre.com.
